Editorial Review

Product Description: To achieve the exceptionally thin depth, Sharp engineers redesigned the circuitry inside the LCD panel and reduced the overall number of components, resulting in a cabinet thats 25 percent slimmer than previous AQUOS models. In addition, the advanced design trims the weight of the displays by as much as 20 percent. Thanks to the thinner bezel and recessed stealth speakers, consumers are able to appreciate a larger picture without giving up more wall or cabinet space. The D64U AQUOS series provides a superior Full HD 1080p picture with unparalleled performance, utilizing Sharps proprietary Advanced Super View (ASV) / Black TFT Panel with Multi-Pixel technology. The panels produce an impressive 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio that delivers deep blacks and detail in dark scenes. The 6ms response time allows for crisp images, even in fast-moving scenes. The LC-32D64U incorporate Sharps 4-wavelength backlight system, which provides deep, vibrant reds. Generous 176-degree viewing angles offer consumers the ability to view the picture from virtually anywhere in the room. The LC-32D64U is outfitted with a full array of inputs including two HDMI(TM) version 1.3 (x.v.Color(TM)), two component HDall 1080p-compatiblea PC input and an RS-232C port for control. The Energy Star-compliant D64U series TVs maintain very low power consumption.

Excellent clarity

This 32" 1080p was purchased to use in a presentation kiosk and is connected to a PC and DVD player (upconverts to 1080p) via the HDMI connectors. The output from both sources is excellent. The 1920 x 1080 resolution from the PC is cystal clear and the sound is better than expected. I'm very happy with this LCD HDTV.

Excellent TV

by Holger Baeuerle 2008-03-19, 23 people found this review helpful
I just received the TV from JandR (through Amazon) and set it up last night. The instructions on setting up the stand are confusing and the pictures in the manual are useless. You'd think by now the Japanese would know how to write clear instructions.. learn from Apple.
That being said it is not that hard to figure out just a tad annoying at first.
The TV is not as thin as I thought but it is light and well built. I had zero dead pixels so very happy there. I plugged in my cable and within 10 minutes the channel scan was done and the QAM tuner picked up 20+ HDTV channels from Time Warner. The 1080i quality is superb (cable does not broadcast in 1080p) and watching a movie through my PS3 (blu-ray) was a whole new experience. I have not tried HDMI yet as the component accept 1080P.
I stil need to calibrate the picture but for now i am a happy shopper.

PS. the speakers are actually not bad for a small room.

Sharp Aquos lives up to its reputation

I had heard from multiple trusted sources that the Sharp Aquos is THE name in high quality HDTVs, so when it came time for me to replace my bulky 6 year old TV, it was natural to turn to the Aquos. It was a frustrating process getting the TV set up and ready for use (nothing to do with the TV itself, however.) I purchased a refurbished model and within days of first receiving the item, it died while I was struggling to get it to work with my cable (again, nothing to do with the televison, just the wiring in my house), the TV died and wouldn't power on. I contacted Sharp about the problem, as the refurb comes with a 30 day manufacturer's warranty and they promptly sent someone out to repair it. After receiving it back from the repair shop and some fussing with my cable, I got it to work and I must say, I couldn't be more pleased. The actual set up itself if you don't have any problems with your house's cable is simple. The picture is beautiful. I got this TV for use in my bedroom, and I want to note that it is a little bit big for that purpose, but I had supposed ahead of time that it would be. I got the 32' so that it could be used as my primary TV when I move out of my parents' house, so it's a fairly versatile size. I particularly like the ability to hook it up to my laptop so that I don't need to buy a separate DVD player and I can stream movies from Netflix or other websites onto it. I was rather impressed by the quality of the picture coming from my laptop as well. I haven't fussed at all with any of the preset settings, so I can't tell you anything about those. But I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
